Hello fellow and sister Cascade Lakes paddlers,
A couple things to consider adding to your packing list: bug spray and immersion wear.
My sister-in-law, who lives near Sunriver, reports that the mosquitoes are out at the high elevations. It's anyone's guess how they'll be where we're paddling, but you may want to bring along some insect repellent.
Warm air, cold water--the bane of all paddlers!
Air temps will be warm, but water temps may be cool or even cold. If you have hydroskin, any variation of wetsuit (farmer john, shorty, top, bottom), please bring it along. Some folks may be more comfortable in a drysuit. We can check conditions when we get there and people can choose what's best for them. OOPS emphasizes FUN and SAFETY. Especially with warm air temps and perhaps minimal immersion wear, let's diligently do the other things that will keep us safe: paddle in pods (I cannot emphasize this enough!), paddle close to shore where practical, and of course, wear your PFD snugly fitted.
The weather forecast is still looking good; not quite as hot as predicted earlier, which is probably a good thing! Chance of showers Monday AFTERNOON. See you soon!
P.S. Not sure of the potluck time. Shall we shoot for 6 p.m.?
