Trip Organizers and Instructors are critical to the success of this code!
If you want to become a Trip Organizer, please inform a Board member or the TOHelp@oopskayak.org mailing list to let us know of your interest. Depending on your previous experience, after 1-3 classes the Board will vote to make you a provisional organizer. You will then be asked to lead at least 3 mentored paddles with existing OOPS organizers (different people each time, ideally) to build your skills on actual trips. Once you are comfortable leading groups, the Board will vote to make you a full organizer. The following classes are available, and strongly encouraged if you are interested in organizing an OOPS trip: a paddler development workshop (which includes trip planning and logistics), a rescues class, and a pod/group management class. These classes may be held more than once per year, but usually in the spring.
