Narrative: Come join in a pleasant wildlife paddle at a favorite local spot.
We'll meet at 8:15 AM at the canoe launch at the far east end, past the concrete outhouses. Be water ready and launch promptly at 9 AM, proceeding West from Smith to Bybee Lake. Highlights include visiting the Great Blue Heron and Egret Rookery, seeing Bald Eagles, and the Beaver dam if it is not still submerged. Lunch will be on the grassy slope of the Wapato prison. On the return, we'll check out the Eagle nests and the water control structure which is not being maintained this season.
Pack a lunch, water and snacks for this enjoyable paddle. Waterproof binoculars are also recommended. No Parking Fee, but please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle
