This trip is limited to OOPS members who are WEC (unless exempt under Activity policy F.1.).  To register, you'll need to log into your member account on the OOPS website.

Narrative: Our final April Warm-up Wednesday takes us to a scenic area of the Willamette River which is not far from Multnomah Village and our OOPS General Meeting that evening. We'll paddle the short distance upriver from Milwaukie Boat Ramp to Elk Rock Island. We'll go farther upriver to round out our trip, with the distance dependent on the current and the group's wishes.

This will be a relaxed pace trip; SUPs are welcome.

Elk Rock Island is fun to poke around, both in boat and out of boat. Perhaps we’ll see geese nesting in the cliffs on the west side of the river. The area near the boat launch has less current than the main channel and will be another opportunity to practice our paddle strokes. We'll launch at 1:30 p.m. and be off the water by 4:00 p.m. You may want to bring a lunch or snack to eat at the launch site before we head out. Afterwards we can head over to Multnomah Village for dinner and the OOPS meeting.

Parking is free, but it can be limited. If you don’t find a NON-trailer spot at the boat ramp, plan B is to drop off your boat and park across the street in the business area. Single vehicles are NOT allowed in the trailer parking spots. Plan to arrive by 12:30 p.m. to allow time to find parking and eat lunch. You can launch from the dock, ramp, or rocky beach. Bathrooms are available.

We will observe the Four Ps: Please Plan to be a Pod Participant! If you are a lone wolf, this is not the trip for you.
