Narrative::
Join Chris Mayou and I for a short morning paddle to a West Linn historical site, Maddax Woods. This West Linn park at the north end of River Street was once the site of a thriving boat building business. Read more about this park here:
https://www.westlinnhistory.org/history/virgil-maddax-west-linns-boat-builder
We'll pull our kayaks up to this lovely site where we can explore, read informational posters, have a snack and even use a porta potty. The site is across from Goat Island, known for it's heron rookery in the spring. We'll likely circumnavigate the island before returning to our put in at Cedaroak boat launch.
Please be water-ready at 10:00 a.m. Water temperature is around 75. Air temperature will hopefully be in the 80's. No immersion wear is required.
Paddlers should expect to stay with the pod. Canoes with flotation and kayaks 12’ and longer are welcome. No inflatables, please.
