Narrative:: Join Paula Brottman and me as we leisurely paddle round-trip from West Linn’s Willamette Park, heading upstream to “the Narrows” and then on to the far (south) end of Willow Island. Total of 8 miles. This is one of the prettiest sections of the Willamette in the metro area. This will be a relaxed-pace paddle so that we can enjoy the scenery.
We’ll poke around the various passages as the water height allows and get out of our boats for a snack break at Willow Island before heading back to Willamette Park.
We'll plan to launch from the Willamette Park Non-motorized Boat Launch. When driving, turn right at the bottom of the hill where 12th street has a T-intersection with Volpp St. You’ll see free parking uphill of the large information board. Bring wheels if you have them or it’s a short carry to the small beach. Bathrooms are available.
Please be water-ready at 10:00 a.m. Water temperature is about 70F. Air temperature will be in the 80s. No immersion wear is required. Paddlers should expect to stay with the pod.
Canoes with flotation and kayaks 12’ and longer are welcome. No inflatables, please. Willamette Park, 1900 Volpp St., West Linn, OR 97068
