Full Name:: Jon Light-Powell
Narrative:: Since Wednesday was taken with other OOPS Trips lets do a fun paddle to the Narrows on Thursday Afternoon.
We will meet at the Kayak launch in West Linn Willamette Park at 4:00 and help carry boats down to the river for a 4:30 safety talk and launch.
We will paddle up river left (West Bank) of the Willamette and behind the islands until we can easily cut over to the break through Rock Island. We will find a nice secluded piece of water here and do some fun swimming exercises. This is meant to be fun boat play time for anyone that wants to work on a rescue skill. Don't want to get wet? Perhaps you can try your hand at rescuing someone.
For those people that are advancing their skills and thinking about learning to roll, I suggest you spend a little time getting comfortable upside down in your boat and learning to be rescued with a bow rescue. A bow rescue can be used to recover from a roll in all sorts of situations, even high current conditions.
We will take a break somewhere in here for water and snack.
Depending on the time and water levels we will exit out the top of the Narrows and then have a pleasant paddle back to our cars.

The following things are not required but highly recommended:
Helmet
Some level of cold water protective clothing (I will wear a shorty wetsuit)
