Full Name:: Robin Rabiroff
Narrative:: Launching from Willamette Park we will travel upstream to Hebb Park. Approx.11 miles round trip. Flat water and winds predicted 2-4 kts, possibly gust up to 10 kts, (predicting this far out might vary). Beautiful stretch of the Willamette. We will travel behind Rock Island and take our 1st break at Willow Island, approx. 2.2 miles. After break we will continue up to Hebb Park following river left utilizing the eddys (where present)and taking advantage of the reduced currents near shore. (Current in the channel, will be negligible). Taking lunch at Hebb Park. Both Willamette and Hebb Park have bathroom facilities. After lunch we will head downstream, staying further from shore to get the current assist. We will move river right as we approach the top of the Narrows and enter on the West end. Paddling through the narrows. If anyone wants to practice rolls, rescues etc. we can stop, take a break before heading to the launch. Total mileage is very close to 11 miles. Know your abilities and have a boat capable of maintaining at minimum a 2.5-3 kt pace. Weather is predicted to reach 75 degrees with Sun and some clouds. Should be a beautiful paddle to prepare everyone for hotdogs, potato salad beer and chips. Tow belt and helmets are optional, but recommended if doing rescue practice.
