Activity Title::
Bachelor Island circumnavigation
Date of Activity::
6/23/2026
Narrative::
Join a (mentored) paddle on a close-to-Portland/Vancouver scenic area on the Columbia River. We’ll circumnavigate Bachelor Island, starting at the Lake River kayak launch in Ridgefield, WA in a clockwise direction by paddling the Bachelor Slough at high tide to the Columbia River. Paddling downstream on the Columbia River with a receding tide, we’ll see wildlife, big ships, and enjoy sandy beaches, before returning up Lake River to the kayak launch. Total length is just under 10 miles. Launch will be at 11am so we pass through the Slough at high tide. Rivercast Application shows sufficient water levels in the Columbia River to make it through the Slough. Long term weather forecast is for temperature in high 70s to high 80s. Winds 4-8 kts from the NNW. Kayaks 14 ft or longer.
