Full Name:: Steve Carrigg Narrative:: This is a mentored paddle . Explore the Willamette River west of Rogers Landing County Park in Newberg. We'll paddle upstream inside Ash Island toward the Yamhill River. There could be eagles and great blue heron along the route along with other possible mysterious creatures along the riverbank. Heading South, the current picks up slightly beyond the Newberg Pool, so we'll hug the shore as we watch for wildlife. Once we reach the mouth of the Yamhill River we'll decide whether to paddle upstream there or not. After that we'll ferry across the Willamette River to a sandy beach for lunch. Heading back we'll pass Ash Island on the main channel. The current will provide a slight push downstream. If the water levels are high enough, we may explore Chehalem Creek just before reaching Rogers Landing.
Total distance around 10 miles
There is a fee to Park at Rogers Landing. It is $3.00 and must be paid by MC or Visa (no cash).
