Full Name:: Mark Niemann-Ross Narrative:: This is an overnight paddle from Puget Island (in the Columbia RIver) to Wallace Island on June 20 and 21st. On June 20th, we will park our vehicles at Slow Boat Farm, You can opt to arrive that morning, or camp at Slow Boat the evening before. We will launch at 10:00 am from their access point to the Columbia - you will need kayak wheels for the short distance to the launch. We will then paddle upriver (roughly east) to Wallace Island. The distance is roughly 4 miles one way. Wallace Island does not have facilities or water so everyone will need to bring at least two gallons of water (one gallon per person per day) . Wallace island is primitive Leave No Trace Camping. Be prepared to camp overnight without electricity. We will pack out our shit - plans will be made for this after sign-up. The next morning (Sunday, June 21st), we will pack up, eat breakfast, then paddle west along the Columbia River back to Puget Island and Slow Boat Farms. We’ll arrive at Slow Boat Farms early afternoon and head home. Slow boat farms is located at 424 E Birnie Slough Rd, Cathlamet, WA 98612-9743 If you opt to camp overnight at Slow Boat Farms, you will need to make a camping reservation with them via their HipCamp listing.
