Activity Title::
Cedar Oak to Elk Rock
Date of Activity::
1/18/2026
Narrative::
This is going to be a leisurely and great if you are a less experienced paddler. We will shorten the trip if anyone feels as if they are running out of stream. We will launch from Cedar Oak (flush toilets)and paddle down stream enjoying the sites. Birds of many varieties, sometimes otters, deer, beaver, and sea lions can be seen. We will stop at Rodgers State Park for a break. Rodgers has significant historical sites and ...flush toilets. If the water levels allow entrance into Sucker Creek, we might explore into it as well. After break we will head to Elk Rock and enjoy our lunch. Elk Rock has a great view of the high cliffs and Peregrine Falcons nest up high on the cliff walls. After lunch we will paddle upstream utilizes the many eddies that can help push our boats upstream .The eddy lines should be mild and easily handled by the group. We can stop again at Rodgers park for a rest if anyone needs one or paddle on where we can stop behind Goat Island if needed. Then will paddle back to Cedar Oak boat. The trip is between 7-8 miles and a great way to practice your forward stroke and get comfortable paddling a little distance. If conditions exceed the groups abilities, I either cancel or create a different trip that suits everyone at the launch.
