SPECIAL WET-EXIT POOL SESSION!

Have you joined OOPS in the last year or so?  Would you like to join fellow paddlers on Level 2 trips?  Would you like to get your Wet Exit Certification in a warm clean pool?  Then this paddle is for you!

Bring your sit-inside kayak, spray skirt, PFD, and paddle to the Oregon Pool on Feb 21 to get wet exit certified.  We have blocked out two hours and three sessions at the pool for you, and we have folks who are excited to help you succeed.  In addition to your Wet Exit Certification, you will also see why pool sessions are so much fun.

If you've not yet been to a pool session, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. There is a $15.00 fee for this event. This fee pays for the pool rental and is non-refundable.  If you are on the Wait list, you don’t have to pay until you have a spot at the event.

  2. You must have a signed electronic waiver on file to participate in this session.   If you don't have a waiver on file yet, please contact membership@oopskayak.org

  3. Tickets for this event are first come, first serve.  There are 3 sessions as designated by the three ticket types. Each session lasts 40 minutes, and you may get a ticket for one session.

  4. Please bring a clean boat!

Location:  Oregon City Swimming Pool, 1211 Jackson St, Oregon City, OR 97045

Once at the pool, please adhere to the following guidelines:

We all help each other unload, carry, and load boats.

There is a large fenced concrete area for staging boats just outside the pool on 12th Street. Please do not bring your boat inside the facility until the organizer clears entry with the pool personnel. Please move your car after you unload your boat to make room for others. There’s adequate parking just down the street.

Please arrive with a clean boat. There is a hose inside the facility to wash the chlorine off your gear before leaving.

There is a nice locker room with showers, changing rooms, and bathrooms.  You may wish to bring a towel.  Some folks wear swimsuits for pool sessions, some wear clothes that work well in the water, and some wear wetsuits, especially if they get cold easily.  Helmets are strongly encouraged, but not required.  Lockers that can be secured with a lock are available. Bring your own lock or rent one for $1. People usually stow their belongings in their gear bag pool side but it’s up to you.

For the 2:00 Session, arrive at 1:45

For the 2:40 Session, arrive at 2:25

For the 3:20 Session, arrive at 3:05

We are required to have our boats out of the facility by the end of each session. Plan to start removing boats 5 minutes before the end of your session. Boats can be placed on the fenced concrete staging area just outside the pool. Participants may then re-enter the facility to use the locker rooms to shower and change, once the boats are outside.

All participants are required to have signed the standard OOPS online Waiver. If you haven't signed the online waiver, contact Membership@oopskayak.org for help in getting this done.

In OOPS, we all work together.  Please plan to help others carry and load their boats onto their cars after the event.

Contact Safety if you have any questions. (safety@oopskayak.org)

This trip is limited to members.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account
