Narrative::
Enjoy a winter paddle around these Columbia River islands launching from Ahles Point in Kalama. We'll paddle south along the Oregon shore into the slough behind Goat Island. From the southern tip of Goat Island, we will paddle north along the east shore of the island and then cross to the north tip of Martin Island. From there we will paddle south along Martin Slough and then into Burke Slough, emerging into the main river at the southern end of Burke Island. We will then paddle north along the west sides of Burke and Martin Islands and up the Washington shore back to the launch.
This trip will be about 14.5 nautical miles (16.7 statute miles). Participants will need to be equipped for winter conditions, including wind, waves and rain.
I expect to be back at the launch by 4pm.
