Full Name:: Lori Stole
Narrative:: Oswego Lake has been accessible for kayakers since this past spring and I’m excited to check it out! We’ll launch from the only public access point: Lower Millennium Park Kayak Launch, and circumnavigate the Lake. This is an urban paddle. We’ll enjoy views of big homes, gardens, and even a touch of relatively undeveloped shoreline, keeping an eye out for holiday lights and decor. I hear it’s a really nice paddle!

We’ll paddle about 7 nm/8 miles. Expect to be on the water for perhaps as much as three hours, with NO opportunity to leave your boat because it’s all private property.

Parking is across a busy highway from the launch. There’s a traffic light and pedestrian crossing. You’ll need wheels to get your boat to the launch site. I’ll provide more details by email to registrants.
Parking Lot (entrance on foothills Rd.): 45.417856091381886, -122.66292363825676
Millennium Park Kayak Launch: 45.417675349402835, -122.66357809718691
There is a public bathroom within walking distance.

Meet by 9:00 AM in the parking lot to gear up and move your boat to the launch site. We’ll have the safety talk at 9:45, then launch.

This is winter and a drysuit is required.
Consider bringing a snack that you can easily access and eat while in your boat.
Bring wheels.
Waterway access permit required.

Current forecasts (depending on which you look at) suggest there could be 6-12 kts of south wind, zero to occasional rain, and some sun. But forecasts have been quite changeable lately.
