Full Name: Brenda C. Brewer Narrative: Paddle Strokes and Rescues - This skills session is designed for folks who are newer to OOPS, newer to paddling, or feel they'd like to work on their strokes and rescues in a small group. It will be limited to six participants, and we ask that you sign up on the wait list. Join Fred, David, and Brenda at Cedar Oaks on Saturday to work on paddle strokes and rescues. We will start with a short talk about efficient paddle strokes. Next, Fred will take half the group out to practice strokes, while Brenda and David work with the other half on self- and assisted-rescues. After an hour or so we will take a short break and then switch groups. Please note that the rescue portion is a wet and interactive session - everyone will get wet, and everyone will assist another paddler back into their boat. This part of the session will be in the lagoon at Cedar Oak, away from boat traffic and currents. Spray skirts and a minimum of Farmer John/Jane wetsuit as we will be getting wet. If you get cold easily, you may consider a semi-dry or a dry suit - that's up to you. Please also bring a set of dry clothes for when we are done. Bring water and snacks for the break, as well as a hat and sunscreen. There are nice bathrooms at Cedar Oak.
