Full Name: Mart Hughes
Narrative: Please join Mart on his third mentored paddle. The Willamette River and Holgate Channel provide a chance to enjoy a paddle and opportunity to practice paddle skills. There will be a stop for a break on the island, likely on the down-river end. We will do a medium but steady pace to Holgate Channel and back to the launch. This will be a good time to work on paddle skills as the day cools. There will be a few extra greenland paddles if anyone wishes to try out a stick.

We will meet to help each other with boats at 3:15 to be ready for a safety talk and launch around 4:00. The launch will be from the gravel beach on the north side of the dock. Access is rough, we will need to organize a hand-off from the dock to the beach.
Parking is $1.00 an hour until 5 pm, use the parking kitty app for easy payment.

The current ten day weather is predicted to be hot 70 - 98 deg F. and sunny A hat, sunglasses, and a long sleeve poly shirt are recommended. If you are expecting to get wet, a shorty wet-top is good for wind chill protection.

Maybe we'll see Bald Eagle, Merganser, Great Blue Herons, and other wildlife. We will be looking for beaver dens along the Oaks Bottom shore.

For any one requiring a Wet Exit Certification, Peggy Liggit is willing to test paddlers requiring the certification
