Narrative: Sunset Bay is a well protected, low surf launch site with immediate access to a number of exposed rock formations as you paddle out of the inner bay. The Cape Arago Lighthouse is located just to the North. This is a great opportunity to get out on the ocean and challenge your paddling skills maneuvering between rock and breaking swell. How aggressive we get will depend on conditions and group strength. We may also try to slip over to Lighthouse beach to the north and perhaps play a bit in the surf. Total water time 3-4hrs depending on conditions. We will try to land at least once for food and bio break. Total distance less than 3 miles. Participants must have a helmet and towrope. Additionally, I would expect that participants are capable and practiced at assisting with a capsize.
