Narrative:
This southern coastal aspect of the Port Orford Heads is a great opportunity to paddle on the open ocean in level 2 conditions protected from prevailing north wind. We will launch from the beach just east of the Port Orford Port. After rounding the jetty we can casually explore the coastline which includes Tichenor and Nellies coves. Nellies cove is a well protected and easy gravel beach take out for food and potty. Conditions permitting, we may continue out to Tichenor rock the western point of the "Heads" before turn around. Total distance will be less than 3 miles. We will be on the water 3-4 hours if conditions are optimal. Participants should be comfortable in level 2-3 wind and moderate swell. Efficient self rescue with assist required.
