Full Name: Jerry Stole
Narrative: In the 1960s, developers envisioned the city of Ocean Shores on what had been a large flat dairy farm. They built 25 miles of canals (and other amenities) to attract potential home builders.
This trip will explore a selection of the canals (the 'Fingers', the Grand Canal, Duck Lake). We will utilize a shuttle to maximize our exploration. There is a porta-potty at the launch site and a bathroom at the take-out area.
We will meet at 8:30AM at Bill Ellis Park (address below), unload boats and then have shuttle cars taken to the take-out area, Marine View Boat Launch (address below). At 9:45 we have our shore talk and launch after the talk (about 10AM).
Total distance should be about 8.5 statute miles.
Tourism maps of Ocean Shores are at: https://tourismoceanshores.com/map/ (the second map shows the canal system).
