Join Paige and Teresa for this lovely paddle from Scappoose Bay out to Warrior Rock Lighthouse. This area is full of eagles, osprey, herons, and migrating birds. Once we saw a flock of white pelicans feeding in the bay at low tide! We'll paddle out of Scappoose Bay, down the Multnomah Channel, around the point of Sauvie Island to have lunch on the beach at the lighthouse. If the water is calm and we still have energy, we can cross the Columbia and eat lunch at the mouth of Lake River instead. Either way, we'll come back the way we went out. This paddle is around 8 miles. The forecast is 60 degrees, 20% chance of showers, very little wind, and cold water at 55 degrees. Drysuits or full wetsuits are required, with adequate layers under your drysuit.
Our launch point has bathrooms and a $10 parking fee. The launch is from a dock, but there is a launch assist if you prefer. We'll stay off the boat ramp and out of the way of the motor boats. Bring wheels if you have them. We can share wheels and help each other get boats down to the dock. There are boat unloading spots behind the Next Adventure Building, pull into one to unload your boat, then park in the upper lot. Arrive at 9:45 to be water ready at 10:30.
