Welcome TO Candidates - We are going to have two exciting days with on-water training May 3-4.

Please refer to your Google Folder for detailed information about equipment, activities, and expectations for the weekend.

Details for Saturday, May 3 (9:00-4:00) - Reed Island

We will meet at 9:00 am at the Washougal Waterfront Park (just east of the Port of Camas/Washougal).  Address: 56 S 1st St, Washougal, WA 98671.  Drop your boats and gear, then park free on the grass next to the paved parking lot. If you park in the paved parking with the boat trailers, you’ll have to pay a parking fee. Flush toilets are available.  Weather forecast: Saturday, chance of rain and partly cloudy, high maybe 60, wind 7-9 kts with higher gusts.  Water temp in low 50's - wear drysuit with appropriate base layers for being in the water for rescues.  9:30 am - pre-trip safety talk (including swim testing gear) and navigation talk presented by candidates. Launch at 10:00 am. We'll circumnavigate Reed Island (clockwise) and return back to Washougal Waterfront Park, by 4:00 for debrief.

Details for Sunday, May 4 (9:00-4:00) - Willamette Narrows

We'll meet at 9:00 am at the Willamette Park, West Linn.  Address: 1100 12th St, West Linn, OR 97068.  Meet at the non-motorized boat launch site (across from the children's playground and bathrooms).  Parking is free.  Weather forecast: Sunday, partly sunny, high 63.  Wind - 5-7 with higher gusts. Water temps in the 50's - wear your dry suit with appropriate base layers for being in the water for rescues.  At 9:30 am we'll have our pre-trip safety talk (including swim testing gear) and navigation talk presented by candidates. Launch at 10:00 am.  We'll paddle up to the Narrows and back by 4:00 pm to Willamette Park for debrief.
