Full Name:
Kent Slawson
Narrative:
This paddle is proposed for Saturday 5/24 with corresponding projected tides; however, I can easily push it back with time adjustments to Sunday or Monday depending on weather and interest.
The trip will require a morning shuttle to the take out at Johns River Launch off WA hwy105, approximately 30 mins one way from the Hoquiam RV Park. We will work at shuttle logistics the evening prior. Group will launch from the Levee St. boat launch in downtown Hoquiam 90 mins prior to high Tide. We will float down the Hoquiam river to the Harbor. From here the group will cross the shipping channel and make our way to the west end of Rennie Island. Rennie Island can serve as a pull out for snack or biobreak. From Rennie we will continue to the south bank of Grays Harbor about a 1.5 to 2 mile open crossing of shallow water that is exposed mud flats at lower tides. We will follow a deeper channel of water down the Southern harbor shoreline, a designated wildlife habitat, to Johns River for the remainder of the trip. There are a number of landing opportunities for breaks along the south harbor shoreline. Total trip length is about 9NM.
