Narrative: Explore the Tilton and Cowlitz Gorges at the east end of Mayfield Lake. Launching from the day use area of Ike Kinswa State Park (Discover Pass required), we will warm up by paddling up the short, but beautiful Tilton gorge until too shallow to continue. We'll then paddle back past the park and into the Cowlitz River gorge. We will paddle up the gorge until the current is too strong to continue and then head back. Much of this trip is through stunning scenery.
We will be out all day and expect the distance paddled to be about 15 nautical miles (17 statute miles). You should be able to maintain a 3kt pace.
Bring wheels if you have them as it is a bit of a haul to get from the cars to the beach.
