Full Name:
Sara Spink
Narrative:
Please join Sara Spink and Brenda Brewer for a mellow Sunday paddle at scenic Estacada Lake.
We will launch above the dam at the ESTACADA LAKE BOAT LAUNCH. The address provided will get you to the entrance to Milo McIver state Park, but if you put "Estacada Lake Boat Launch" into google maps it will get you all the way there. We will launch at the boat ramp and paddle upstream, passing waterfalls and hopefully seeing some birds, with time for pictures. If the current is too swift up at the second dam (or if there’s not a good landing zone at the gravel bar) we will head on back; otherwise, we will land on the gravel bar for a snack break before heading back.
Overall, this is a mellow level 2 paddle. Hazards include cold (mid 40’s) so please wear your dry suit with warm clothes underneath, gloves and any other cold weather gear you regularly use. Bringing a hot drink or soup is recommended.
The Launch is inside Milo McIver State Park, about 10-15 minutes from the park entrance. There is a vault toilet in the parking lot. There is a designated kayak launch, or you can simply launch from the boat ramp/shore. $5 entrance fee.
