Full Name: Dennis Pennell
Narrative: This is day two of two back to back trips.
This trip requires a vehicle shuttle.
Once we launch, we will try to immediately ferry across the river toward the Oregon side. Note that there may be a fairly significant current and also there are at least one and likely more wing dams that we must avoid. If there is any doubt about being able to make this ferry, we will choose a different route.
If we get over to the Oregon side after launching at County Line Park, we will then paddle on the south side and east side of Cooper Island, Wallace Island, Puget Island, and Coffee Pot Island. Then paddle upstream between Puget Island and Ryan Island, and ferry back across the Columbia River to Elochman Marina.
Total distance is about 18 miles.
Sunset is at 5:02 PM and the last light is at 5:35 PM. We should make it to the takeout well before dark, but just in case, bring suitable white lights such as flashlights or headlamps.

Shore breaks will be taken as needed, including an on shore lunch.

Please consider bringing warm food, hot drinks, extra clothes, and maybe a garment to wear during shore breaks such as a storm cag, raincoat, or oversized parka. Gloves, pogies, rain hats, extra layers under your drysuit, and such will be good to have.

If you are inclined to do both days, there are lodging options in Cathlamet, such as a hotel, yurts and cabins, and camping. There is a brewery in Cathlamet about 100 yards from the boat ramp. There are also a couple other pubs and restaurants.
