Full Name: Will Greenough Narrative: Explore the quiet sloughs and sandy beaches of these uninhabited islands in the Columbia River south of Kalama. We'll launch at Ahles Point at the south end of Louis Rasmussen Park in Kalama and paddle across the river and south behind Goat Island. After a break, we'll paddle back north up the east shore of Goat Island and then cross the river again to the north end of Martin Island. From there we will paddle south again in Martin Slough and then into Burke Slough, emerging back onto the river at the south end of Burke Island. Then we'll paddle back in the main river to Ahles Point. The total distance will be about 15-16nm (~18.5 statue miles) Paddling pace around 3kt Expect to return to the launch around 4pm.
