Grays Harbor, a three hours drive NW of Portland, has a lot to offer: numerous gorgeous paddles options for level 1 - 4 paddles and a pleasant town offering grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants, as well as other recreational amenities such as hiking trails, protected cycling, and beach combing. Dates were chosen for the mid-morning flood, for catching rides in and out of these coastal rivers on the tides.
Nearby Ocean Shores has both Duck Lake and 34 miles of interior canals, where one can always paddle IN the direction of the wind! The winding Blue Slough has ever-changing vistas and there are numerous nearby rivers to explore, including the Humptulips, the 3 branches of the Hoquiam, the Chehalis, and the Wishkah, as well as the Westport area.
We'll be camping at Hoquiam River RV Campground just a short distance from the town of Hoquiam. We have reserved numerous RV sites with electricity. These sites can accommodate RVs or tents. Tenters will have the option of setting up their tent in the RV site or along the riverside (a short way from the assigned RV site/parking). The campground has every amenity, including a clubhouse with showers, a full kitchen, and a shelter for our use. The cost is $135.00 per person for the entire event!
Stay tuned for additional info - paddles, potlucks, and other pertinent perks.
