Full Name:
Brian Stewart
Narrative:
Come enjoy paddling amongst the changing leaves and evergreens. Paddle along with Brian and Peggy on his first mentored paddle. Enjoy an early fall paddle under the clouds with the fall foliage, cascading ivy, and waterfalls during this out and back paddle. We'll paddle up towards the dam, keeping an eye to not get too close to heavy current, and then return to our launch. We'll stop at the gravel bar for a break and lunch - it'll be a cool day, so consider bringing something warm. There is a chance of rain in the forecast - less than a half inch across the whole day. But be prepared to get wet in case of there is more expected or taking a swim (water is at 50 degrees). We can also pause for rescue or rolling practice along the way if anyone is interested. So let's wear drysuits and spray skirts for this one.
This is in Milo McIver State Park - so bring $5 for a day pass or your annual parks pass.
Bring wheels to help with getting your kayak to the launch.
Consider carpooling as parking is limited.
Let's be courteous of other boaters and take advantage of the kayak launch.
This is a Level 2 trip based on distance and limited/rocky takeouts.
Wet exit certification and spray skirts are required, and must be worn at all times.
Recommended:
Lunch, snacks, and water.
