Full Name:
Jon Light-Powell
Narrative:
Welcome to another addition of Wet Wednesday. This weeks episode: Really Wet !!
Come join Paige and Jon for a paddle that concentrates on Rescues, both assisted and Self.
When is the last time you got our of your boat on the water and then got back in? Has it been a few years? I don't know about you, but if I don't do this sort of thing every year, I don't know if I still can. There will obviously be a time when I can't do it anymore and my kids will take away my car keys. But perhaps sufficient practice can delay that eventuality....
We will meet at the usual place - Willamette Park Boat Ramp. We are now in Off season parking hours so if you pay for parking AFTER 12:00 you can spend $3 for 3 hours and get the rest of the day free. To accommodate this we will have our meet time be 12:15 and our launch time will be closer to 1:00
We will paddle up river a little ways and find a nice quiet spot for rescue practice. Some of use will flip over or rescue. If you don't have a Wet Exit Certificate and want to get one, this would be a good paddle since we will be able to do all of the things necessary to certify you.
There will be plenty of expertise along for anyone to get suggestions and/or instruction.
Have a helmet? You might want to wear it but not necessary.
Have a tow rope? Bring it along and we can do some practice.
What else is necessary? A spray-skirt, A boat with safety lines, a willingness to get wet. Immersion gear of some sort is required as we will be in the water for a bit.
Current weather prediction is for some rain. But since we are going to be wet anyway....
JON is seeking a Co-TO for this paddle.
