Full Name:
Brenda C. Brewer
Narrative:
Let’s go paddle to Warrior Rock - but from the Scappoose side instead of Ridgefield. This is Brenda’s second mentored paddle, with Tom Waldron kindly mentoring.
This is generally a pretty mellow 6-6.5 mile paddle, launching from Scappoose Marina, heading North down the Multnomah Channel, into the Mighty Columbia River for a bit, around the Northern end of Sauvie Island to Warrior Rock Lighthouse. We will take a lunch break at the lighthouse area before heading back. There will be opportunities to practice rescues at Warrior Rock for those who wish. There are real bathrooms in Marina Park, right near where we leave our cars.
Weather (as of 6/23) calls for mostly cloudy with a 21% chance of rain and winds 5-10 mph - but as we know, that can always change). We will launch right after the low tide and return right around slack or high tide. And then a stop in Next Adventure kayak store is always fun
Gentle reminder: Scappoose Marina now charges $10 per car for us to park there - the machine is near where we launch - you may wish to consider carpooling.
