Jasper and Meadow will be teaching an American Canoe Association L2 Skills certification Course for OOPS on 7/13-7/14 and conduct the assessment of L2 Skills on 8/3/2024.

This class is great for beginner and intermediate level paddlers who want to further develop their skills to a solid Level 2 foundation. This course is conducted in two phases:  Phase 1 will happen on July 13th -14th and include learning and practicing the ACA L2 skills - please click on the link below for the course curriculum and agenda:

Phase 2 of the course is assessment day held on August 3th, 2024, where you will demonstrate your mastery of the ACA L2 skills.  Successfully passing the ACA L2 Skills assessment results in you receiving an internationally recognized certificate.

An international recognized certification for L2 Essentials in Kayak Touring can be a great help when dealing with outfitters on trips outside of your home area.

The on-water portion of the class will begin with covering all the requirements of the OOPS WEC certification.

Registration Information:  This course is for beginner to intermediate paddlers. Everyone who registers for this class will be put on an OOPS Waitlist.  Jasper will contact you if you’ve been selected for this course.

As this is an ACA certification course, priority will be given to OOPS members who want to pursue this certification.  This requires an ACA membership.

This class will be held in the Portland area, most likely at Chinook Landing and the Willamette Narrows, but this might change depending on conditions.

A helmet and tow-line are also recommended, but Jasper can arrange for a limited amount of loaners, please let him know.
