Narrative: The water temperature is moving up, we are above the 65 deg mark in the Willamette. It is time to get out and paddle. Wendy Luo and I are going up to the Willamette Falls for some fun. You can join us for some play in the fast water below the falls. If you want to test your skill level here is your chance. We put in at the Sportcraft Landing Marina boat ramp where all the 205 bridge construction is and then paddle across the river where will find a place to practice our rescue skills. Everyone will be getting wet. Don’t worry we will all get back into our boats. If you haven’t been practicing assisted rescues this is the place. If you want to try out some self-rescues this is the time. After that we will paddle up to the Falls and learn how to cross eddylines. This is where you can learn how to enter the fast water. This is a challenge by choice, but you are encouraged to do something that may be beyond your comfort level. It is okay if you fall out of your boat, someone will get you back in.
Because the water is still a bit cool we will all be in dry suits and you should adjust your underlayment accordingly. IF you chill easily put on a heavy layer if you are a polar bear a light layer. If you don’t know, go heavy because we will all take a swim. A helmet is a must.  If you have a tow rope and have used it bring it. We will be off the water before dark. The goal of this paddle is to have fun playing in dynamic water.
