Full Name: Steve Blackwood
Narrative: We will put in at Kingfisher Cove which will require a carry to the put in. Wheels may be advised. Parking is limited. We will paddle out to Russel Island and make a pit stop. From there we will continue on to Portland Island. This section is a long open crossing of 1.5 Miles. The paddlers need to be comfortable in open water and able to maintain a pace of 3 MPH. The total distance is about 10 miles. There is ferry traffic in the area. This will be a challenging paddle.
Portland Island is a nature preserve that offers a beautiful shoreline of discovery. We will find a beach to lunch before our return to the put in.
