Narrative: You've joined OOPS cause they have fun trips, are safety minded and want to meet people that enjoy the outdoors like you do. It's summer and you are ready to paddle. But wait! Most of the trips are Level 2 and you need to be Wet Exit Certified for those. Lucky you, here is an opportunity to do that.

We'll meet at Willamette Park in Portland where parking is plentiful (but $1/hour) and bringing your boat down to the beach to the right of the ramp is relatively easy. (Be sure to help each other). We'll talk you through how to fall out of your boat, yes you'll get wet but the water should be warmer by then, and we'll show you a couple of ways to get back in with assistance by a rescuer. You'll need a kayak skirt, which we'll show you how to remove before you go under. Feel free to wear a wet suit if you are prone to getting a little cold.
You can do this! You may have already done it, but we don't know you can do it. So hopefully we'll certify you and you'll be ready to go on level 2 trips, classes, events. I promise to send you videos ahead of time that will show you great techniques so you'll be prepared.

If this session is full, join the waitlist. We will consider adding a second session in the afternoon.

Attendance at this session does not guarantee passing wet exit certification.

The wet exit certification process is described in detail in this document starting on page 4: https://www.oopskayak.org/resources/Documents/WEC%20Document%2002-13-2024.pdf
