Narrative: Launching from Arbutus Rd, our trip will start with an open crossing of 1.2 nm to Penelakut Island. We’ll paddle the coast line north around Penelakut Spit and stop for lunch at Cedar Beach Pizza on Thetis Island. After lunch we head west into Telegraph Bay, paddling through “The Cut”, a narrow passageway that separates Thetis and Penelakut Islands. Following the west coastline of Penelakut Island south, we’ll stop at Lamalchi Bay for a break before rounding the southern tip of Penelakut Island and heading back to Arbutus Road.

We’ll have a ferry route to cross on the west side of Penelakut Island as we leave Telegraph Bay. Paddlers should expect to keep a 3 knot pace throughout the trip. Total distance is just under 11 nm.

This trip is very dependent on tides .We’ll be leaving Ruckle at 7:30 am sharp, so we can be on the water by 9 am and eating pizza by 11:30 am.
