Leader: Dennis Pennell
Narrative: Launching from Southey Point on the northwest tip of Salt Spring Island, we will paddle out to Jackscrew Island. From there, depending on conditions, we will either go clockwise or counterclockwise and do a circumnavigation of Wallace, Secretary Islands, Mowgli, and Norway Islands. Then back to the launch point. This is about a 12 nm trip. These are a narrow string of mostly uninhabited islands between Salt Spring Island and Galiano Island. The island string runs northwest to southeast, and are protected by Galiano and Valdes Islands from wind and waves in the Strait of Georgia. Hopefully we will see lots of sea mammals, birds, and tidal creatures. Note that we should avoid approaching sea mammals and give them plenty of space.
