Narrative:
Join Steve and Tom for a weekend of paddling on the Columbia. We’ll be paddling Friday - Sunday, 5/31 – 6/2/24 and camping at Vista Park in Skamokawa. Sign-up for whichever paddle fits your schedule or better yet, do all three. Everyone makes their own arrangements for camping, or lodging. These paddles are individual OOPS trips, not an OOPS event.
We will put in at Vista Park in Skamokawa and cross the Columbia River to Welsh Island. This island is part of the Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge. After we circumnavigate the Island We will paddle back across the Columbia and enter the Steamboat Slough. Then we will follow the slough back to our starting point. The Welsh Island is a marshy body in the middle of the river. There is shipping traffic on the east side of island which we will cross. This is approximately a 9 mile paddle.
We'll meet at the Vista Park Boat launch. Bring Wheels if camping. There is a $5.00 launch fee at the park. Restrooms are available.
