Narrative: Launching from Cathlamet, we will head out around the outside of Tenasillahe, Welch, Quinns and Grassy Islands to Aldrich Point and then back along the inside (Oregon side) of these islands and back to Cathlamet. The tides are favorable for this loop on this day. Depending on weather we might modify the actual route for more/less protection. This will be a full day out on the water, with an estimated distance of 16 nautical miles (18.5 statute miles). Paddlers should be able to maintain a 3kt pace while paddling and be comfortable in L3 conditions should they materialize. These islands all are part of the Columbia White Tail Deer wildlife refuge. This is a beautiful area, but there may be extended periods where it will be difficult to get out of the boats due to mud on the inside of the islands. We will need to be prepared to be in the boats for as long as 2 hours at a time if necessary.
