This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification (except for level 1 trips when the paddler is not using a spray skirt....if the paddler is wearing a spray skirt on a level 1 paddle, the Wet Exit Certification is REQUIRED). To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Full Name: Bob Freshman Activity Title: Scappoose Bay Marina to Warrior Rock Lighthouse RT L1, 7-22-22 Date of Activity: 7/22/2022 Narrative: The weather on Friday will be a perfect day to be on the water, sunny with a high of 79. Please join Dave Smith and me for a trip from the Scappoose Bay Marina to Warrior Rock Lighthouse and back. We'll meet at 9:30 (or earlier if you need more time) at Scappoose Bay Marina and launch by 10:00 am. Our plan is to paddle down the scenic Scappoose Bay, crossing the Multnomah Channel to the Columbia River. We will head upstream a bit on the Columbia to the Warrior Rock Lighthouse. We will take our lunch break on a sandy beach and enjoy the view of the river traffic on the Columbia. The distance to the lighthouse is about 3.5 miles. From the lighthouse we can see where the Lewis and Lake Rivers flow into the Columbia. The marina in Scappoose is a dock launch only. They provide a kayak launch at the end of the dock or you can do a traditional dock launch. Bring wheels for access to the dock or partner up to get boats to the dock. I expect conditions to be pretty mild on Friday. Total distance will be 7-8 miles. Don’t forget to bring lunch and water. Restrooms are available. There is a $5 parking fee that can be paid by credit card.
