On September 30th, OOPS will host a presentation by Kyleen Austin, co-owner of Columbia River Kayaking, who in 2019 kayaked solo from Ketchikan Alaska to Puget Island on the Lower Columbia River
Kyleen Austin has a life-long background in outdoor exploration, and has led programs for Columbia River Kayaking since 2014, and became an owner in 2017. She is a certified Wilderness First Responder and has completed the British Canoe Union's four-star kayak sea leader training. Kyleen's undergraduate degrees are in Music and English, followed with an MBA. She has led a varied life, from marketing software and hardware for IBM to creating more public lands in northern California with the American River Conservancy, and in between building multiple dairies and bringing more sustainably grown food to local communities. She is also a singer-songwriter/recording artist, with two solo albums and several others made with her past and present bands. In 2019, Kyleen completed a three-month 1100-mile solo kayaking journey from Ketchikan, Alaska to her home on Puget Island.
During the COVID pandemic, OOPS continues to hold online general membership meetings. The URL and password are provided in an email to all registered members 24 hours prior to the meeting. For this meeting, OOPS members may include guests in their registration.
Lifejackets and drysuits are not required at online general membership meetings.
