Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance pending approval of trip organizer.

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Narrative:
We will meet at the Speelyai Park boat ramp at 9:00am. To get to the ramp, take I-5 exit 21 from Woodland, WA towards Cougar (SR503 east). Speelyai Park and boat launch is about 21 miles from I-5 and is marked on the right. There is no parking fee at the boat ramp Monday to Thursday. When parking, be sure to use the single-car spaces and not the boat parking spaces.
Speelyai Park has bathrooms but it is unknown if they are open. We'll launch at 9:30 and paddle east along the shore, under the bridge and past water falls towards the eastern end. If there is interest, we'll explore narrow Canyon Creek. Along the way, we'll stop for lunch and breaks as needed and plan for about a 10 mile paddle. Note: wet suit specified at present as water temperature is unknown, but may be relaxed to air temperature dress after checking temperature.
