This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification. To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip. Narrative: The class instruction will take place from 9:00 - 12:00 in the community room at the West Linn Fire Station #59, 1860 Willamette Falls Drive, West Linn, OR 97068. The gps will focus on using Gaia GPS, an iphone and android app, for showing where you are, how to create a track and a Gaia route. A free 3 month trial subscription to the Gaia app is included. Additionally, Mel will provide a brief intro to marine radios, features available on them and their proper use. After a break for lunch, we'll do a short paddle on the Willamette, launching from the nearby Willamette Park, to practice both the GPS and radios.
