Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance pending approval of trip organizer.

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Narrative: We will meet at 9:00 am at Rooster Rock Boat Ramp, unload our boats and gear, and then drive to Chinook Landing Marine Park. We'll park our cars, try to get as many people as we can into as few cars as possible, then return back to Rooster Rock Boat Ramp and launch. We will paddle downstream and lunch at Gary Island and then continue on to Chinook Landing Marine Park. This is about ten miles and the water is cold. Please prepare with warm underlayers. Gloves or pogies will be necessary. There are bathrooms at both ends of the paddle. Parking is $5.00 at Rooster Rock and Chinook Landing Marine Park, credit cards taken.

This is the Columbia River and as most of you know it can be windy. Last time we tried this the wind was too high for us to fall within the OOPS guidelines for a level 2 paddle. I am hoping that mother nature will cooperate with us this time.
