Narrative: Possibly you have planned a trip using a chart or map to figure out where you want to go, but how do you figure out where you *are* when you actually get out on the water, and how far it is until you get to your lunch stop?
In this class we will review how to read a nautical chart, practice using a compass to navigate with a nautical chart, talk about what you do while you are paddling, and how to account for wind, current, and tides in your navigation and trip planning. Please bring your laptop computer, one or two nautical charts (if you have any), some scratch paper, and a compass (if you have one). This class will happen in a classroom – there is no reason to bring a boat with you or dress for the water. No food is allowed in the classroom – plan to eat lunch after the class. There are plenty of restaurants across the street if to don't want to eat at home.
