Narrative: What is a nautical chart? What do all the symbols on it mean? How do you use it? In this class we will answer these questions for you, and hopefully give you enough knowledge to use a chart to visualize what you will see on the water, and for planning trips. This is not an elite skill! With a little practice it can be quite easy to use a nautical chart. It can even be a lot of fun! Please bring your laptop computer, one or two nautical charts (if you have any), some scratch paper, and a compass (if you have one). This class will happen in a classroom – there is no reason to bring a boat with you or dress for the water. No food is allowed in the classroom – plan to eat lunch after the class. There are plenty of restaurants across the street if to don't want to eat at home.
