Comments and Discussion
To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Activity Title: Columbia River Paddle Date of Activity: 12/29/2019 Narrative: Join Bob Freshman and me for what might be the last OOPS paddle of the year on Sunday, 12/29/19. We'll meet at Chinook Landing Marine Park on the Columbia River at 10 am for a launch at 10:30 am. We'll head out on to the Columbia River passing McGuire Island on our left as we head upriver. We'll pass the mouth of the Sandy River on the Oregon side and Lady Island on the Washington side. We'll continue heading upstream to Gary Island where we'll take out for a break which is about 5 miles from the launch site. After lunch, we'll head back downstream to our launch. Total distance for the paddle will be about 10 miles. We should be off the water by 3 pm. There is a $5 parking fee and restrooms are available. Weather is unpredictable this time of year, so we'll plan to launch rain or shine. Only high winds and/or lightening will keep us off the water.
