Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.
Narrative:
Please join Dave Smith and myself for a trip from Rooster Rock State park boat ramp across the Columbia to the always scenic Cape Horn and back. Cape Horn is a massive basalt cliff outcrop located on the Washington side of the Columbia River rising up to 2500 feet above the river.

Since we can’t forecast the conditions this far in advance of the trip, if the conditions do not look right for the crossing, we have an option to paddle around Sand Island instead of crossing the Columbia. We will make the final route decision before the trip based on conditions.

This area can get quite windy at times, so while it’s not required, if you own a towline and know how to safely use one, please bring it.
Oregon State Parks have a $5 parking fee unless you have the yearly state park pass.
