Activity Title: Willamette River: George Rogers to Maddax Woods Round-trip
Date of Activity: 10/30/2019
Narrative: Wednesday’s forecast is for sun, moderate temps, and light wind. Are you looking for an outdoor activity prior to the OOPS general Meeting? Look no further! We'll launch from Lake Oswego’s George Rogers Park. There is a path that goes near the (heated!) bathrooms and down to the beach. Bring your wheels and share them with others, too. We'll work our way upriver past Hog Island and up to Cedaroak Boat Ramp where there are beach areas and bathrooms. From there, we’ll paddle another mile upstream to Goat Island and Maddax Woods. This will be seven miles round-trip.

We'll launch at 11:00 a.m. and likely be off the water by 3:30 p.m. Low tide should be around 3:00 p.m. by Goat Island. River flow is moderate; we’ll progress more slowing heading upstream but hopefully have some current assist heading back. Bring along a lunch or snack.

Note that a drysuit is required immersion gear.

Afterwards, for those who don’t go home first before heading over to Lucky Lab for our meeting, an idea is to visit the Elk Rock Garden at The Bishop’s Close (11800 SW Military Lane, Portland, OR). http://www.elkrockgarden.org/welcome/ It’s a nice stroll.
