L2 Paddle Sunshine Coast - Secret and Smuggler Coves - Leisurely Exploration

Registration for Event Trips is done at the event. Wet Exit Certification Required. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may ask questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will communicate change to all participants before the trip.

Narrative: Paddle two miles from the launch into Smuggler Cove. We’ll look for First Nation historical fish trap and take a break including a short hike. We’ll return to Secret Cove, stopping at Secret Cove Marina where there is ice cream and other snacks, as well as a bathroom. Free kayak “parking” at their dock. We’ll round out our trip's final two miles by circumnavigating Turnagain Island in a clockwise direction with a short detour north to peek at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort.

Launch from Secret Cove’s Buccaneer Marina ($6/person includes launch and parking).

Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park: "Beavers are residents in Smuggler Cove Marine Provincial Park and have been hard at work on some home renovations in this park! While you are visiting their home, please be respectful of their wetland habitat. Many other birds, wildlife and plant species will flourish in this expanded wetland environment. Do not disturb the dam site, stay on the trail and keep pets on a leash."
